A vacancy exists in the Department of Aging for a Maryland Access Point (MAP) Specialist.<br><br>Pay Schedule I, Grade 25, Regular Schedule: 35 hours per week.<br><br><span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;" data-pasted="true">This job announcement may close at any time with little or no notice. <strong>Required Qualifications</strong><br>Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in a social or behavioral science.<br><br>Experience described in the essential duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of 4 years, for the required education.<br><br><strong>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</strong><br><ul type="disc"><li>Knowledge of theories and principles of aging.</li><li>Knowledge of issues and resources for persons with disabilities.</li><li>Basic knowledge of community, human, and social services assistance programs.</li><li>Communication skills, including: active listening, redirection, de-escalation, and summarizing.</li><li>Skills in completing assessments of customers’ situations.</li><li>Skills in problem-solving.</li><li>Skills in using databases, Word documents, email, and online forms.</li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced setting.</li><li>Ability to handle difficult customers and those experiencing a crisis.</li><li>Ability to enter and maintain client information in electronic records. </li><li>Ability to make public presentations.</li><li>Ability to interpret Federal, State, and local regulations, procedures, and guidelines for human services professionals. </li></ul><strong>Licenses and Certificates</strong><br>Some positions within this classification may require possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a Non-Commercial, Class C Maryland driver's license at the time of appointment.<br><br><strong>Proof of Licenses, Certifications, and Education</strong><br>Applicants are required to submit proof of education beyond high school to meet the required qualifications for this job. This position requires satisfactory completion of County-sponsored CPR and First Aid training.<br><br>Applicants appointed to this position must maintain licenses and certifications throughout employment.<br><br><strong>Physical and Environmental Conditions</strong><br>These positions are essentially sedentary, with occasional walking, lifting, or other limited physical activity. Positions may require traveling between work sites.<br><br>Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a Non-Commercial, Class C Maryland driver's license at the time of appointment.<br><br><strong>Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation</strong><br>Applicants selected for employment with Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination, drug screening, and employment investigation, including, but not limited to, criminal background, education certification, and fingerprinting checks.
