POWER SYSTEMS ENGINEER

Job Summary KDCI Outsourcing is seeking an experienced Power Systems Engineer to provide technical and consulting support for electrical engineering projects, primarily across generation, high-voltage transmission, distribution, and grid connection projects. The role involves performing power system studies using PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, and Hypersim, developing engineering solutions, supporting project delivery, and ensuring designs comply with relevant Australian standards, statutory requirements, and client specifications. Key Responsibilities Technical Engineering & Power System Studies • Perform and direct power system studies using PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, and Hypersim modelling environments. • Manage the enquiry, application, registration, and/or design phases for large energy user and renewable energy projects, including HV grid connections, substation design, and generating plant power systems. • Undertake site inspections, provide technical advice, and prepare engineering reports. • Assist with planning and scheduling tasks and activities within the Electrical Engineering Team. • Develop cost-effective engineering solutions that meet project and technical requirements. • Provide engineering and technical advice to the engineering team and other project personnel involved in the execution of works. • Review designs to ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards, statutory requirements, and client specifications. • Apply Quality Management System (QMS) requirements to work processes and identify and report opportunities for improvement. Consulting & Business Development • Undertake billable consulting work within Electrical Engineering, including projects involving generation, high-voltage transmission, and distribution. • Support management in developing team capabilities across owner- and developer-side work for generation, high-voltage transmission, and distribution projects. • Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture and provide guidance to junior engineers, drafters, and technical personnel. • Support management in pursuing new project opportunities, including preparing tender submissions and proposals with other team members as required. • Support business development activities by contributing technical expertise to new project opportunities and prospective client engagements. Team Support & Engagement • Provide high-level technical support to teams, primarily in generation, high-voltage transmission, distribution, and related areas. • Participate in team activities and attend staff meetings as scheduled. • Support colleagues and contribute to a collaborative, friendly, and effective work environment. • Provide regular and timely feedback on work activities to relevant team members.
