Job description
<p><strong>Location</strong>: St. John Hospital</p><p><strong>Department</strong>: Acute Care of the Elderly</p><p><strong>Schedule</strong>: 36hrs/week; 12hr Day Shift, 7:00am-7:30pm; Every other weekend; Every other holiday</p><p><strong><u>GENERAL SUMMARY:</u></strong></p><ul><li>Must be enrolled in HFHS Department of Labor (DOL) approved apprenticeship program.</li><li>Under the direction and supervision of the responsible Registered Nurse (RN) and/or licensed clinician, performs specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient.</li><li>Provides input to assist the RN and/or licensed clinician in planning and implementing patient care.</li><li>Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.</li><li>Recognizes and participates in own continuing education.</li><li>The Nurse Assistant Apprentice follows the Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence in all interactions.</li></ul>
<p><strong><u>EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:</u></strong></p><ul><li>High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.</li><li>Must complete HFHS Nurse Assistant Apprenticeship Program recognized by the Department of Labor (DOL), successfully pass all testing and/or exam, and complete all HFHS Nurse Assistant Apprenticeship Program competencies within the timeframe designated in the HFHS Nurse Assistant Apprenticeship Program.</li><li>Requires ability to read, write and understand verbal and written instructions.</li><li>Strong interpersonal and customer skills required in order to interact effectively with individuals from various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.</li><li>Must be able to lift, carry, transfer and move clients if needed.</li></ul><p><strong><u>CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:</u></strong></p><ul><li>Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during apprenticeship program. </li></ul>
