Up to $5,000 Sign On BonusLocation: Henry Ford Providence Southfield HospitalDepartment: Respiratory Therapy Shift: Part Time (24 hours per week) / 7pm-7:30am / Every other weekend and rotating holidays GENERAL SUMMARY Under general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, delivers life-support, resuscitation, monitoring and various medical gases therapy to patients.   PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>Performs patient assessment, care planning and collaboration with other health care providers. </li></ul><ul><li>Delegates aspects of patient care appropriately to support staff (Respiratory Therapists, Respiratory orients, externs and students, as assigned), providing necessary communication and guidance to those support providers. </li></ul><ul><li>Functions as a team member in care of patients and in mentoring with other staff. </li></ul><ul><li>Communicates with co-workers, and other professionals, including physicians and nurses as needed to ensure optimal patient care. Attends and actively contributes to daily bedside rounds. </li></ul><ul><li>Maintains high standards of clinical excellence, according to Departmental policies. Demonstrates proficiency in various Departmental subspecialties, clinical areas, life-support, diagnostic and monitoring equipment, as assigned. Displays competency in various special procedures and protocols and works in multiple IPD locations as assigned. </li></ul><ul><li>Maintains clinical productivity standards. </li></ul><ul><li>Maintains technical clinical expertise through professional associations and educational activities. </li></ul><ul><li>Stays current in Respiratory Therapy developments by attending conferences, participating in in-services, staff meetings, and peer review/chart review as appropriate. </li></ul><ul><li>Performs specific duties as determined by site assignments, which may include equipment cleaning, maintenance, repair, and testing. </li></ul><ul><li>Documents patient care timely and in accordance with department standards. </li></ul><ul><li>Maintains awareness of patient safety issues within the clinic and in the use of equipment. </li></ul><ul><li>Maintains patient confidentiality according to HFHS HIPAA policies. </li></ul> EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED <ul><li>Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.  </li></ul><ul><li>Bachelors in Respiratory Therapy preferred, Associate of Science Degree, minimum </li></ul><ul><li>Recent graduate of a Respiratory Therapy school or two years of recent Respiratory Therapist experience in a Tertiary Hospital.</li><li> </li></ul>CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED <ul><li>Registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care. </li></ul><ul><li>Current License - Respiratory Therapist in the State of Michigan </li></ul><ul><li>Newly graduated therapists will be allowed 90 days from the date of graduation to complete their registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care and to obtain a State of Michigan Respiratory Therapist License. If not obtained, will be terminated </li></ul> PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS <ul><li>Work performed in patient care settings and blood-analysis laboratories with potential exposure to communicable disease.</li><li>Wash, clean, and disinfect soiled medical equipment.</li><li>Work with pressurized piped-in and bottled medical gases.</li><li>Incorrect lifting, moving and use of equipment could result in personal, patient and/or equipment injury.</li><li>Must be able to constantly move, lift patients, help push patients on hospital beds, and move heavy equipment across the Hospital.</li><li>Limited noise, temperature fluctuation, and dust are possible. </li></ul>
