About this role

About The Role :

This role is to lead and optimize the entire logistics operation responsible for transporting fresh strawberries from farms (Beheira, Qalyubia, Ismailia, Sharqia) to the factories using all types of refrigerated transportation (Reefers, Jumbo, and Small Reefers). The Head of Logistics must ensure full efficiency, supplier reliability, on-time arrivals, and the best market rates. The role includes identifying and contracting new transportation vendors, evaluating fleet quality, supervising trip performance, and managing a Logistics Officer who will be hired and trained by the Head of Logistics within the first three months. Additionally, the role ensures smooth fleet movement, strict quality standards for refrigerated trucks, and effective execution of the yearly logistics plan shared by the External Cold stores & Supply Chain Logistics Leader.

Requirement Skills :

Technical Skills

• Logistics & Route Planning: Planning daily and weekly allocations for refrigerated transport (Reefers and Jumbo trucks) based on harvesting schedules. • ERP Proficiency: Maintaining accurate data entries for vendor records, trip logs, and performance history on the ERP/system. • Cold Chain Monitoring: Tracking and evaluating temperature logs, cooling unit efficiency, and GPS tracking. • Contract Negotiation: Securing competitive transportation rates and structuring vendor pricing. • Compliance Management: Verifying legal documentation, including Commercial Registration, Tax Cards, and Insurance. Soft Skills • Effective Communication: Maintaining clear channels with farm teams, QC teams, and factory reception. • Problem-Solving: Managing and resolving operational delays, route issues, and loading bottlenecks. • Negotiation: Continuously following up with suppliers to secure the best market rates and availability. • Leadership: Hiring, training, and developing a Logistics Officer while focusing on strategic tasks. Core Competencies • Vendor & Fleet Management: Researching, evaluating, and auditing transport suppliers to ensure reliability and fleet quality. • Operations Management: Overseeing end-to-end trip movements, ensuring on-time arrivals, and maintaining loading/unloading efficiency. • Performance Monitoring: Tracking vendor KPIs (timeliness, trip success rate) and issuing monthly "Plan vs. Actual" performance reports. • Quality Assurance: Enforcing strict quality standards for trucks, including temperature accuracy, cleanliness, and insulation checks. • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinating seamlessly with Supply Chain, Warehousing, Procurement, and QC teams to execute the yearly logistics plan.

Qualifications :

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering , or a related field. • Professional certifications in Supply Chain, Logistics, Fleet Management, or Transportation are highly preferred.

Experience

• 8–10 years of relevant experience in Logistics, Transportation, and Fleet Management. • Proven experience in a Logistics Head / Logistics Manager / Transportation Manager / Fleet Manager role. • Strong hands-on experience managing company-owned and/or third-party fleets . • FMCG, food manufacturing, distribution, or fast-moving consumer goods experience is highly preferred. • Proven experience managing high-volume transportation and distribution operations .
