Position Summary This position is responsible for assuring that Masters of Social Work (MSW) students are placed and monitored in appropriate field sites and oversees performance agreements. Partner with Field Instructors to provide students opportunities to integrate coursework and their field work experience so as to learn and practice social work skills. This position establishes and maintains the relationships with partner organizations as both educational collaborators and potential employers.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Identify practicum placements for students and facilitate the placement, establish and formalizeagreements with partner organizations, and provide development and relationship building resources forthe preceptor. • Advise and orient students in securing field placements with UIC contracted agencies. • Provide ongoing monitoring and visit students and Field Supervisors in placement sites. • Create and deliver workshops on professional development, career preparation, and professionalbehavior in the workplace, to prepare students for their initial entry into the profession. • Create and deliver workshops and training for Field Supervisors. • Review learning plans, field evaluations and asses student field work performance. • Creates and facilitates student workshops to improve performance in the field. Mediates when there is a disruption in placement • Updates digital database system with information regarding student field placement search. Updates student and field instructor information as changes occur. • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned. • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Social Work required. A minimum of 5 years of post-master’s degree direct service experience. Supervisory experience preferred. Understanding of the role of fieldwork in Social Work education. Familiarity with theoretical concepts as the foundation for Social Work practice. Ability to consider different perspectives, understand and guide adult learners and problem solve in the context of Social Work education. Computer literacy. Ability to travel, both in Chicago and suburbs during business hours required. Experience in working with people from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. Ability to develop and conduct presentations to various audiences. Strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving. Ability to work independently in the context of graduate school education.
