About the Role
The Consumer Loan Manager is responsible for organizing, planning, and directing Western Security Bank’s consumer lending functions to maximize profits and growth, while staying within our loan policy and risk tolerance. This position establishes and implements departmental lending policies and operational procedures consistent with overall company management policies. Will review Consumer loans for Approval, Counteroffers, Denials and ongoing credit portfolio management. Provides leadership and training to all retail staff that originate consumer loans.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with the Chief Credit Officer to effectively monitor and manage the consumer loan portfolio. Assure that systems/policies and procedures are in place to achieve production goals while maintaining credit quality and accurate documentation. Train lending staff, by providing the tools necessary to follow sound lending practices in conjunction with loan policy manual. Contribute to timely annual performance reviews for Personal Bankers. Makes logical decisions, in conjunction with Branch Manager, concerning human resource issues and work with Chief Credit Officer and Human Resources on any potential legal situations.
• Obtain loan applications, properly counsel applicants, analyze financial and related data, determine appropriate pricing, and loan structure and make correct loan decisions according to bank policies in a timely manner. Make sure details on loan documentation are complete and correct prior to closing. All credit reports, financial statements, tax returns, title insurance commitments and appraisals are reviewed prior to closings. Keep current on loan programs and lending (federal and state) regulations as well as all compliance and bank policies. • Monthly reporting for WSB and GBCI completed in a timely fashion. Hold regularly scheduled department meetings. • Provide training and support to Consumer Lenders, and Personal Bankers. • Work with Chief Credit Officer and Lenders to coordinate effective program of working on delinquent loans, workout agreements loan collections etc. • Participate in compliance and loan review calls; and will be responsible for coordinating/communicating information to the lenders. • Works with Personal Bankers to ensure consumer loan portfolio meets established lending requirements and provides maximum profitability to the company with minimum risk. Approve, decline, or counteroffer loan applications within set lending authority. Ensures compliance with company standards and practices and State and Federal regulations. • Supervises and assists with the collection of delinquent accounts. Maintains delinquency within company guidelines. Follows accounts to final resolution including repossession,foreclosure, bankruptcy, charge off etc. Establishes repayment schedules, tracks payment on charge-off and bankruptcy accounts. • Supports Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) through business development efforts. • Fill in as needed in the absence of a Consumer Lender or Personal Banker.
CUSTOMER RELATIONS, VALUES, AND CULTURE
• Model, enforce, and manage to Western Security Bank’s Culture with Intent initiatives. • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with department managers, support staff, branch staff and external customers and key individuals and groups in order to assure a more favorable image and provide information regarding Bank products and programs. • Consistently communicate the values and promote the culture so that all personnel have an understanding of the values in action.
COMMUNITY SERVICE, NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND MARKETING:
• Take part in community development through volunteer opportunities and/or Board participation with non-profits and other community organizations. • Represent Western Security Bank to the public in a positive and professional manner. Display a professional appearance and behavior that will gain the confidence of customers. • Participate in Community Service and Bank-sponsored activities that serve and support the mission and values of Western Security Bank. • Actively participate in business development efforts by promoting Western Security Bank within the community. Identify and develop relationships with potential new customers and expand relationships with existing customers.
MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES
• Complete required bank and OnCourse training courses within assigned time frame(s). • Functions as a knowledgeable and professional representative of WSB internally and in the community. • Actively participates in WSB continuing education. • Performs duties while complying with Federal and State Laws and GBCI/WSB policies. • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
About You
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A minimum of 10 years consumer lending experience required. • Comprehensive knowledge of banking policies, procedures, and practices required. • Valid Driver’s License required. • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Marketing, Business, Finance or any related degree from a four-year college or university preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Environment: Indoors, a climate-controlled shared work area. • Noise Level: Moderate noise. • Lifting: Standing for extended time periods: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds amount of force frequently and/or 10 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. • Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. • Some travel is required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Starting salary is dependent upon relevant experience and may vary based on the geographic location of the position.
