About the Managing Veterinarian Role
As Managing Veterinarian, you will serve as the clinical leader of the hospital while continuing to practice medicine alongside the team. You will partner closely with practice leadership and Heartland Veterinary Partners to support medical quality, doctor engagement, mentorship, hospital performance, and an exceptional client and patient experience.
This role is ideal for an experienced veterinarian who wants to have a meaningful voice in how a practice operates without stepping away from clinical medicine.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide high-quality medical, surgical, and preventive care to small animal patients • Serve as a clinical leader and resource for the veterinary team • Mentor and support associate veterinarians in their professional and clinical development • Promote strong communication and collaboration between doctors, support staff, and practice leadership • Help establish and maintain high standards of medical care and consistency • Support doctor engagement, retention, and a healthy hospital culture • Partner with practice leadership on hospital goals, workflow, staffing, and operational opportunities • Encourage continuing education, skill development, and thoughtful adoption of new medical techniques and technology • Help create an environment where team members feel respected, supported, and empowered to succeed
