Job Overview
We are seeking a strategic, mission-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This executive will play a critical leadership role in ensuring the long-term financial stability, transparency, and operational excellence of a non-profit organization.
The CFO will oversee all financial functions, including budgeting, accounting, treasury, procurement, grants management, financial reporting, and long-range financial planning. This role serves as a key advisor to senior leadership and governing bodies, balancing fiscal stewardship with equity and outcomes.
This is a high-impact opportunity for a seasoned financial executive who thrives in complex, highly regulated environments and is motivated by public service. Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive financial leadership experience • At least 5-7 years in a senior executive role (CFO, Deputy CFO, or equivalent) • Demonstrated experience overseeing large, complex budgets (e.g., $1B+ preferred) • Proven track record in financial planning, audit management, and compliance • Experience presenting to boards, governing bodies, or public officials • Lead enterprise-wide financial strategy, budgeting, and forecasting • Oversee multi-billion-dollar operating and capital budgets • Ensure compliance with public finance, audit, and reporting standards • Advise executive leadership on financial risks, opportunities, and sustainability • Manage and develop senior finance leaders and cross-functional teams • Partner with internal and external stakeholders, including government entities
Experience Preferences:
• Experience in public sector, education, government, or nonprofit organizations • Familiarity with public finance regulations, bond financing, and grants management • Experience leading finance in unionized or highly regulated environments • Background showing commitment to equity, transparency, and public accountability • Experience managing change in large, matrixed organizations
