About this role
About The Groucho Club
The Groucho exists to keep Soho’s artistic, liberal spirit burning bright, and to champion London’s role as a creative powerhouse on the world stage. A joyful, generous and welcoming space for ideas, creative life and the occasional late night.
Born in 1985 as the antidote to the cloistered gentlemen’s clubs of London’s Mayfair, The Groucho Club was founded on a radical idea: that good company is the kind chosen by ideas rather than status, that emerging voices belong in the same room as established ones, and that culture is made through conversation, collision and curiosity.
Forty years on, that belief still drives everything we do. We exist to facilitate the conversations that shape culture now and next, to back the people making it, and to keep Soho generous, welcoming and alive to creative possibility. We host, we don’t serve.
Members and guests are people we know, not names on a list.
Private Events Waiter
We’re searching for a waiter who brings more than service, someone who helps create a seamless experience from the very first setup to the final farewell. This role goes beyond the floor; it’s about being part of the full event journey, from transforming spaces to delivering exceptional, attentive service.
You’ll be hands-on, adaptable, and quietly efficient, equally comfortable moving furniture and resetting a room as you are serving guests with polish and warmth. The ideal candidate combines a strong work ethic with natural hospitality, understanding that every detail contributes to the atmosphere and success of our events.
Why is this so important? Because every room transformation, every perfectly placed table, every interaction with a guest shapes the experience. At The Groucho Club, private events are a reflection of who we are: thoughtful, vibrant, and effortlessly memorable.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Supporting the setup and breakdown of private events, including moving furniture, arranging layouts, and ensuring spaces are prepared precisely to brief. • Working closely with the events and floor team to create environments that feel considered, polished, and ready to impress. • Delivering attentive, professional table service, ensuring every guest feels welcomed, comfortable, and well looked after. • Serving food and drinks with consistency, care, and attention to detail, maintaining the • Club’s high standards at all times. • Setting up service stations and event spaces immaculately, ensuring everything is stocked, clean, and ready for smooth service. • Adapting quickly throughout events, whether assisting with last-minute changes, resetting areas, or supporting colleagues where needed. • Taking food and drink orders confidently and accurately when required, providing knowledgeable and personable service. • Maintaining awareness of the event flow, anticipating needs before they arise to ensure a seamless guest experience. • Clearing, resetting, and maintaining tables and spaces efficiently without disrupting the atmosphere. • Closing down events with care, ensuring all areas are returned to standard and ready for the next service.
