Designer – Print Production (Prepress) (ZR-737)
About this role
We are hiring an Adobe InDesign & Photoshop Designer to prepare accurate, press-ready files for its print production team. You'll build layouts, correct and optimize images, and preflight every job before it prints. The ideal candidate knows a file that looks right on screen isn't always ready for press, and catches problems before they become reprints.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare press-ready files in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop for products such as business cards, brochures, flyers, postcards, booklets, posters, banners, and signage. • Preflight every customer-supplied file for resolution, color mode, bleed, trim, safe margins, fonts, and missing links, and fix issues before production. • Build and edit layouts in InDesign using parent (master) pages, paragraph and character styles, and multi-page document setup. • Retouch, color-correct, and optimize images in Photoshop, including RGB-to-CMYK conversion, background removal, and clipping paths. • Set up files to exact specs, including crop marks, die lines, Pantone spot colors, fold lines, and spot UV or foil layers. • Create step-and-repeat and basic imposition layouts when a job requires it. • Export press-ready PDFs (PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-4) and package jobs with all fonts and linked files. • Send digital proofs for customer approval, explain file issues in plain language, and turn revisions around quickly. • Check every final file against the job ticket for size, copy, color, and finishing before release to production. • Manage multiple jobs at once, prioritize rush orders, and keep job files and templates organized. • Work closely with sales and production teams over email, chat, and video calls.
Qualifications:
• 3+ years of graphic design experience in print production, prepress, or a print or sign shop. • Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop; working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Acrobat Pro's preflight tools is a strong plus. • Strong prepress fundamentals: CMYK vs. RGB, Pantone spot colors, bleed and safe zones, 300 DPI resolution, overprint, transparency, and font handling. • Hands-on experience preparing press-ready PDFs and fixing problem files from customers. • Familiarity with digital and offset printing; large-format printing or RIP software experience (EFI Fiery, Onyx, Caldera) is a plus. • Sharp eye for detail, catching typos, color shifts, low-resolution images, and layout errors before they reach press. • Ability to work quickly and accurately on tight deadlines while handling several jobs at once. • Clear written and spoken English for working with US customers and teammates. • A portfolio of print work (layouts, marketing materials, packaging, or signage) is required. • Reliable high-speed internet, a dedicated workspace, and availability during US business hours. • Degree or diploma in graphic design or a related field preferred; equivalent experience is welcome.
