The Water Department is looking for a Cross Connection Specialist to join our Customer Care Division and help protect Fort Worth’s drinking water supply. As a Cross Connection Specialist, you will play a critical role in identifying and preventing potential sources of contamination to the public water system.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED supplemented by specialized training in Water Utility Operation • Two (2) years of experience as a Journeyman Plumber • Valid Texas Driver’s License

Other Qualifications:

• Texas State Master Plumber License with a Water Safety Protection Specialist (W.S.P.S.) endorsement within one (1) year of employment • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) license • Possession of, or ability to obtain, an Irrigation Inspector license from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)

Preferred Qualifications:

• In-depth knowledge of the International Plumbing Code, Fort Worth Cross-Connection, and Plumbing codes • Experience conducting plumbing, irrigation, or backflow inspections • Experience reviewing technical plans and interpreting codes and regulations
