Platform Engineering Lead - Slack
About this role
Amex GBT is a place where colleagues find inspiration in travel as a force for good and – through their work – can make an impact on our industry. We’re here to help our colleagues achieve success and offer an inclusive and collaborative culture where your voice is valued.
We're looking for an engineering lead to own our enterprise collaboration platforms end-to-end, primarily Slack, alongside Zoom and Microsoft Teams. This means the day-to-day engineering, administration, security, and governance that keep these platforms running well for every colleague who relies on them.
What You’ll Do
• Be responsible for the day-to-day engineering and administration of our enterprise collaboration platforms (Slack, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams): workspace and tenant configuration, security controls, compliance policies, and platform health • Handle the full lifecycle of apps, bots, and integrations across these platforms, from evaluation and approval through deployment and ongoing support • Build and maintain custom Slack apps, bots, and workflow automations using the Slack API, Bolt SDK, and Events API, and extend similar automation into Zoom and Teams where useful • Administer user provisioning, SSO/SCIM, channel and meeting governance, and access controls, in partnership with our IT and security teams • Monitor platform health, lead incident response, and manage vendor relationships with Slack, Zoom, and Microsoft • Set and drive the roadmap for how the enterprise uses these collaboration platforms, partnering with collaborators across the business • Mentor other engineers and, depending on your interests and experience, build and lead the team responsible for the platforms • Lead platform roadmap planning — evaluating new features/licensing, planning rollouts, and retiring legacy configurations. • Drive security and compliance posture within Slack, Zoom, and MS Teams: Conditional Access policies, MFA, identity protection, data loss prevention, retention/eDiscovery, and audit readiness. • Solve and resolve complex, escalated issues across identity, messaging, and collaboration services; act as the final technical customer concern point for the platform. • Define and maintain operational standards, documentation, and runbooks for the platform; establish monitoring and alerting for service health
What We’re Looking For
• 6+ years of hands-on experience owning or administering enterprise collaboration platforms, ideally including Slack, and familiarity with Zoom or Microsoft Teams administration • Experience building with the Slack API, Bolt SDK, Events API, and OAuth • Solid understanding of identity and access management, enterprise IT security practices, and compliance requirements • Comfort leading a platform end-to-end, from hands-on engineering and incident response to stakeholder communication • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to solving problems with cross-functional teams
