Dog Wellness Coordinator
About this role
Description
Scenthound is built on the concept that dog hygiene is the 4th essential element of responsible dog care. We want to educate pet parents about the importance of their dog's hygiene routine .
While most pet parents are already taking their dog to the vet, feeding them the best food they can afford, and giving them adequate exercise, we are here to educate them on the 4th element of responsible dog care: hygiene . We believe that all dogs: big, small, fluffy, sleek, young, old, calm and reactive deserve to have their skin, coat, ears, nails and teeth cared for and examined each and every month.
We encourage pet parents of all dogs to visit us monthly for their dog's routine hygiene appointment. At each reoccurring, monthly, routine hygiene and wellness appointment, we start by bathing the dog, cleaning their ears, brushing their teeth, examining their skin and checking their glands. We leave each and every dog smelling and feeling better than how they came in. We also provide pet parents a monthly S.C.E.N.T. Check where we rank the dog's Skin, Coat, Ears, Nails and Teeth on a scale from 1-5 in order to provide the pet parent with information and data on their dog's hygiene and wellness as well as point out issues or areas of concern that they can treat further at home or consult with their vet team about.
The role of a wellness coordinator starts with customer service and a love of the connection between dogs and humans.
• Welcoming the pet parent and the dog with a friendly personality at each and every appointment is the best way to make everyone comfortable in the process • Checking the dog for mattes, injuries, hot spots, sensitive areas, changes in temperament and medication is vital for building trust and commitment with both the dog and the pet parent • Communicating over the phone, text and in person with current and future pet parent clients is a daily reminder of the impact we make on our community at large • Selling monthly hygiene memberships consistently to support business growth and customer retention • Scheduling a functional, accurate and full day of appointments supports both business growth and customer satisfaction • Educating the pet parent and making service recommendations for their dogs based on breed, age, size, coat type and known issues is the core of the type of customer service that we provide • Recording detailed, timely notes on dog and pet parent profiles is the best way to ensure a smooth and pleasant process for the dog • Encouraging pet parents to sign their dog's up for our monthly hygiene membership is integral to growing our business and continuing to be the experts in dog hygiene and wellness in our local communities
Wellness coordinators work at our Scenters' lobby and use the phones and computers to communicate with pet parents. Wellness coordinators also check dogs in and out of their appointments.
