About this role
Overview
Waters is seeking a Principal Electronics Design Engineer to join the Quan Portfolio Electronics Engineering Team in Wilmslow. The team develops electronic systems for our Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer product range.
You will be involved in electronic design and development activities supporting new and existing products, including the test and integration of your work from early concepts and prototypes through to final release.
This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging products, explore new technologies and continue developing your expertise within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
Responsibilities
• Design, develop, test and integrate electronic systems and subsystems throughout the product lifecycle. • Contribute to electronic architecture, circuit design, component selection, simulation and verification. • Participate in design reviews and help deliver robust, manufacturable electronic solutions. • Collaborate with development scientists, software engineers, firmware engineers and mechanical engineers to develop integrated product solutions. • Investigate technical, product quality and manufacturability issues and implement appropriate improvements. • Support existing products through engineering changes, component obsolescence and continuous improvement. • Explore new technologies and their potential application to current and future products. • Work with subcontractors and suppliers on electronic design activities and technical solutions. • Share your knowledge and provide technical mentoring to junior and less-experienced engineers.
Qualifications
• A degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience. • Experience designing and developing electronic systems or products. • Experience working across the electronics development lifecycle, including design, testing and verification. • A good understanding of electronics design principles and practices. • Practical problem-solving and communication skills. • An interest in analogue electronics and embedded firmware. • An ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
We recognise that people build their experience in different ways. If you meet many, but not all, of these criteria, we would still encourage you to apply.
Useful Experience
Experience in any of the following would be beneficial, but is not essential:
• Analogue or mixed-signal electronics. • FPGAs and Microcontrollers. • Interfaces such as SPI and I²C • EMC/EMI and design for compliance. • Power supplies, sensors or measurement electronics. • Scientific, analytical, medical or other technically complex products.
