Job check

Every job comes with a ghost score.

Before you write a cover letter, see how likely a listing is to be stale. The job check scores each vacancy from 1 to 99 and shows exactly why: every warning sign with its points, and what speaks in the job’s favour.

  • Online far longer than similar roles
  • Re-posted, or given a fresh posting date
  • Still live on the employer’s careers page

A risk estimate, not proof. Pick an example to see how the score changes.

Less time sorting. More time choosing.

A vacancy can be online without being right for your search. These four quality controls help you decide what stays in your results.

Hide possible ghost jobs

An old listing can still look like an opportunity. Hide every job whose job check says high ghost risk or worse: open far longer than usual, re-posted, or given a fresh date. The filter uses the same score you see on each job.

Hide stale jobs

Spot listings that resurface

A new posting date does not always mean a new opening. Hide listings we had already seen before their current posting date.

Hide reposted jobs

Skip deadlines that have passed

Some vacancies stay online after applications close. Hide jobs past the employer’s stated deadline, with a one-day allowance for time zones. Jobs without a known deadline remain in your results.

See salary information upfront

Only show jobs with salary information supplied by the employer. Decide whether the advertised pay fits what you are looking for before spending time on an application.

What is a ghost job?

A ghost job is an advertised vacancy that an employer is not actively trying to fill. You cannot reliably identify one from a single signal, which is why every job on FindYourCareer gets a job check with a ghost score and the reasons behind it.

How is the ghost score calculated?

The score adds up visible signals: how long the job has been online compared with the typical 45 days, how often it was re-posted, and whether its posting date was refreshed after it first appeared. Each signal and its points are listed in the job check, together with what speaks in the job’s favour. From a score of 50 a job counts as high ghost risk.

Can I find jobs with salary listed?

Yes. Turn on ‘Only jobs with salary info’ to show vacancies with employer-provided salary information. A salary range is not a guaranteed offer: check the currency, pay period and role requirements in each listing.

Can I find jobs posted today?

Use the posting-date filter in your job search to focus on recent vacancies. Combine it with the reposted-jobs filter if you want to exclude listings we saw before their current posting date. A recent date is useful context, not a guarantee that the employer is still hiring.

Does this guarantee there are no ghost jobs?

No. The ghost score is a risk estimate, not proof. A genuine opening can stay available for months, and a new listing can still be inactive. The job check and filters help you decide where to spend your time; they cannot verify an employer’s hiring intentions.

What happens when an employer takes a job down?

We follow vacancies on company career pages. When a job disappears from the employer’s site, it leaves FindYourCareer too, so the jobs you see are still listed by the employer.

Are these filters switched on automatically?

You choose which filters to use when setting up your search or adjusting your job results. You can change them whenever you want to see a wider selection.

Can I get new jobs by e-mail?

Yes. Save your search as a job alert and new matches arrive in one e-mail. With a free account you get one alert, daily or weekly. Career Pass gives you up to five alerts and can send them every 4 or 8 hours, so you hear about new jobs sooner.

Are these jobs also on LinkedIn or Indeed?

Some may be. FindYourCareer brings together vacancies from company career pages, giving you another way to discover opportunities. We do not guarantee that a listing is exclusive to our site.

How do I apply?

Open a vacancy, review the employer’s requirements and follow its application link. Check the company page for the latest status before spending time on your application.
