Compare more than the headline salary
A higher salary may come with longer hours, a longer commute, or less flexibility. The template keeps those differences visible without deciding which offer is best for you.
- Annual base salary, target variable bonus, and first-year signing bonus.
- Calculated base hourly equivalent and cash including target bonus.
- Weekly hours, paid weeks, paid leave, and commute time.
- Benefits, equity terms, flexibility, growth, and your non-negotiables.
How to compare your offers
- Use the Example tab to understand the layout, then fill in Compare offers. Use the same currency and annual basis for all offers.
- Enter a base salary and set bonuses to zero if none are offered. Enter working hours and paid weeks to calculate the base hourly equivalent.
- Record benefits and equity as separate notes. A target bonus is not guaranteed, and equity is not treated as cash.
- List your most important conditions, then note what you still need to clarify with each employer.
Frequently asked questions
Does the spreadsheet choose the best offer?
No. It calculates comparable figures and leaves space for your priorities. It does not assign an arbitrary overall score.
Does it include taxes or exchange rates?
No. Enter gross amounts in one common currency. Currency conversion and country-specific deductions are not included.
How are bonuses handled?
Target annual bonus is shown separately and included only in clearly labelled target-cash totals. Signing bonus is included only in the first-year total. Check eligibility, payout conditions, and any repayment terms yourself.
Why are some calculated cells blank?
The template leaves results blank until the required inputs are entered. Use zero for a bonus that does not apply; leave genuinely unknown amounts blank.
