How salary is converted to hourly pay

Hourly pay = annual gross salary ÷ paid weeks per year ÷ hours per week. For example, a salary of 60,000 with 40 hours per week and 52 paid weeks is approximately 28.85 per hour.

For hourly or weekly pay, we calculate annual pay using your paid weeks. Monthly pay assumes 12 paid months and is divided from that annual total. Weekly pay is per paid week, so it may differ from an average across all calendar weeks if you have unpaid time off.

These are gross-pay equivalents. Tax, deductions, overtime premiums, bonuses, and benefits are not included. Paid leave is included in paid weeks; this is not a calculation of pay per hour actually worked.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert hourly pay to annual salary?

Yes. Select Hourly as the pay period. The calculator multiplies your rate by hours per week and paid weeks per year.

Which number should I use for paid weeks?

Use 52 when you are paid all year, including paid leave. For hourly or weekly work with unpaid time off, subtract the unpaid weeks. Annual pay is the total you enter; monthly pay assumes 12 paid months. For a shorter monthly contract, enter your actual annual total instead.

Does selecting a currency convert my salary?

No. It changes how amounts are displayed. All inputs and results remain in the same currency; no exchange rates or country-specific taxes are applied.

Is the calculator free?

Yes. It runs directly in your browser without an account. The calculation does not require a server or an AI service.
